About
The First Cut Film Series is a contest to finance, produce and theatrically release the first features from the top five film students in the country.
Starting from a group of more than 4,000 applicants, the Series has since narrowed down to its top 250, and is fast closing in on a final 15, on way to the final 5.
Once selected, the Series will support each film by providing:
- $1 million of production financing, plus an additional $500k worth of rentals, film stock, etc., from Series sponsors.
- A top indie producer [including: Jeb Brody (“Little Miss Sunshine”), Rene Bastian and Linda Moran (“Transamerica”), Michael Roiff (“Waitress”), Lynette Howell (“Half-Nelson”), and Scott Macauley (“Raising Victor Vargas”)] to act as Executive Producer on the film, and provide ongoing mentorship.
- Additional experienced indie key crew.
- $1m of P&A funding, behind a national theatrical release, and subsequent DVD, TV, online and international pushes.
